Begin your day with breakfast at the hotel, followed by a guided city tour of Kigali. Rwanda’s history spans centuries, with Kigali playing a central role for over 100 years. Founded in 1907 as a German settlement, the city became Rwanda’s capital in 1962, replacing the former colonial capital of Butare. During the tour, visit the Kandt Museum, explore old Kigali, and browse local craft centers. You will also visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where you will gain meaningful insight into Rwanda’s journey from pre-colonial times through the 1994 genocide, as well as learn about other genocides worldwide and how Rwanda has confronted and healed from its past. Discover the city’s modern developments and witness a remarkable story of recovery and resilience. Enjoy lunch in Kigali before departing in the afternoon for Ruhengeri. The scenic drive takes approximately 2.5 hours, arriving in the early evening near Volcanoes National Park. Dinner and overnight at the Mountain Gorilla View lodge.

Start your day with breakfast at the lodge. At 07:00 hrs., complete a brief registration where park staff assign you to a gorilla group based on your fitness level and advise on trekking conditions. There are 80 permits available daily, with a maximum of eight trekkers per group. Each group’s Lead Guide provides a detailed briefing on trekking procedures and gorilla etiquette. Afterwards, return to your vehicle for the drive to the trek’s starting point. Gorilla trekking can last between 2 to 6+ hours, depending on Gorilla movements, with regular stops for rest and photography. After the trek, rejoin your driver-guide for transfer back to the lodge for lunch. Later, depart the volcano foothills and drive to Kivu Lodge, arriving in the evening. Enjoy leisure time or optional activities.

At Lake Kivu, visitors can enjoy a variety of optional activities to suit all interests. Take a scenic boat cruise to explore the lake and nearby islands, go kayaking or paddleboarding, swim at designated beaches, or relax along the shores. Adventure seekers can hike surrounding hills, cycle along lakeside trails, or explore coffee and tea plantations. Cultural experiences include visiting fishing villages and local markets, while lakeside resorts offer spa treatments, yoga, and sunset photography opportunities. Later, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward departure international flight.
